As a wedding and event organizer, I'm subject to more than my fair share of indignation and rage. You see, until people plan their first wedding day, they not ever think about how much weddings cost. They want to have affordable weddings, yet they also wish to have all of the glitz and glamor. The problem is that, even if you purchase cost effective bridal gowns, low-cost wedding cakes, cheap bridesmaid dresses, & all the rest, it will still add up to a lot of money. The bottom line is that, if you want to have that low-cost wedding day, you have to be willing to make sacrifices.

I'm not saying that having low-cost weddings is impossible. If you're willing to have a small wedding day ceremony with only a few of your very closest friends there, you are able to do it for quite a rational price. You can make it unique by incorporating touches like top wedding songs. The problem is that, if having low-cost weddings is your intention, you have to plan everything around it. That means that you need to have a small guest list, make reservations at some inexpensive place, have some inexpensive wedding dress, rent a tuxedo for the groom, & play top wedding songs on a less pricey sound system, generally scrimp and save at every opportunity. Some of my customers have actually taken their own wedding photographs to save on the cost of hiring a wedding day photographer!

The bottom line is that the most inexpensive weddings are done in a judge's office. Everything else which you do costs further money. Some families go in to debt for years due to what they spend on holding a grand, elaborate wedding day. To me, it seems like a pity. When I meet customers who really wish to have low-priced weddings, I tell them to have them in the backyard. That way, they can save on wedding reservations - and play your top wedding songs on a boombox, if essential! If they're really ambitious, they can even cater it themselves. If there are going to be more than 30 people there, however, this is usually not an extremely good idea.

I guess that it all depends on what you expect from your wedding. When I first became married, all I wanted was some simple ceremony to offer my love to my wife. If this is all that you wish as well, it will be very easy for you to plan some low-cost wedding. If, on the other hand, you wish to have an elaborate party with all of your friends and family, you'll have to pay for it.
